Frequently Asked Question - Copying files DOS < = > CP/M There are two excellent DOS programs to Format CP/M disks and copy files to/from these disk(s) and your DOS system. The first is 22DISK. I may be found on your local BBS as 22DSKxxx.??? xxx is the version and ??? the archive type. I personally use it all the time. And it works great. There are two things the user should be aware of: 1. When files are copied from CP/M to DOS the utility renames all .COM files to .CPM This is done because the matching utility 22NICE, a CP/M emulator runs CP/M-86 and uses .CMD files. So if your using regular CP/M just rename the files. 2. IT WILL NOT work with Hard-Sectored or GCR (Apple or Commodore) disks at all. Only MFM-Formatted CP/M disks. available from - SYDEX Box 5700 Eugene OR 97405 503-683-6033 The second method is UNIFORM-PC. I also use it and have found it an excellent utility. Uniform requires the loading of a .SYS to work. available from - Micro Solutions 132 W Lincoln Hwy DeKalb Il 60115 815-756-3411 I know there are several other programs to do these functions, but I do not know their names. I hope this FAQ is useful - corrections/additions are welcomed. -- +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |thoot@neosoft.com 2600 Skywalker #1076 Houston 77058 713-286-8717| | PIC of Midtown 714-961-5817 FIDO 1:106\31 thoot@wixer.bga.com | | tom.hoot@f31.n106.z1.fidonet.org GEnie Thoot WB5HIG | +-------------------------------------------------------------------+
